HRSS Consulting Group just reached its sixth year of business and reflecting back over the years, I can confidently say we’ve had lots of good days, experiencing many successes, and like many others, have also experienced some not so good days, with several setbacks. Plans don’t go as planned, business ventures don’t work out, and sometimes we end up going down a different path altogether.
I have personally learned that in an ever dynamic and changing business environment, nothing stays constant, other than change itself. The difference is what we decide to do with those changes as they are inevitable in order to survive in today’s ever changing marketplace. Will we allow those changes to
disrupt us into chaos and failure or will we embrace change and view it as a new opportunity to do things differently?
As business leaders we have choices and can make a difference…in our lives and in other’s. It’s ultimately up to us.
Recently, I made a conscious decision to grow our team even though economic conditions are still quite uncertain. We have had a very successful past year in terms of revenue, therefore I focused on how we might build a strong internal team that will focus ON the business versus serving IN the business. What does this change translate to? Well, quite frankly, more overhead costs. But it’s that internal team that is now working to take the business to the next level through marketing and growing our business pipeline and programs. The old saying is true, “There is no “I” in “TEAM”. I know I have reached my full capacity and can’t take HRSS any further without the team.
So what else has been changing at HRSS? Well, another change you will see soon is to our current website. It’s important that we keep things fresh and updated so our current website is being remodeled. In the near future, you’ll see a portion of the website dedicated to commercial business and another portion of the website committed to government business along with a new look and feel throughout the website.
Which leads to the next change: Program growth and expansion. In order to continue growing, we must not only develop depth in our services, but also develop breadth across the various human relation’s services we offer. We have several successful coaching programs in place to include business and executive coaching, and our mastermind groups. We’ll soon be launching our newest form of coaching which is our Executive Roundtables. Additionally, our HR4HIRE just launched this year and has been a tremendous success with small businesses (less than 50 employees) and we have continued to expand our Organizational Assessment services in addition to the current training and development programs we currently offer. All of this has enabled us to increase our client base over the past year.
With change comes uncertainty, but what I can tell you WITH certainty is that HRSS Consulting Group has embraced these changes by asking questions like “How can we make this a positive for us and for our clients?” and “How we can leverage and capitalize on the changes we see and experience?”
When you’re facing change, remind yourself of this Chinese Proverb, “When the winds of change blow, some people build walls, and others build windmills.” What’s in your future? Walls or Windmills?
