“If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.” Charles LundbergIn my line of work, one of the biggest challenges I help others with is getting out of their comfort zone. Specifically with our coaching services, I help business owners and executives identify some of their weaknesses, determine strategies for improving those blind spots, and assist them with pushing through those challenges in an effort to not only improve personally, but to have a positive impact on the organization as a whole.
Of course, it’s tough. People don’t like change. And people tend to gravitate to what is natural for them and what is comfortable. And, of course, it’s always easier to point the finger at someone else instead of taking personal responsibility and owning what we should own…our own behaviors.
The only way to improve is to make incremental changes. Nothing drastic – slight and gradual. Ease out of your comfort zone and I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the new world you find around you.
Remember, doing the same thing will continue to get you the same results. So I ask, “Are you pushing yourself out of your comfort zone?”
We’d love to hear your thoughts? How have you pushed yourself out of your comfort zone?
